Energy Psychology
"The cell is a machine driven by energy.  It can thus be approached by studying matter, or by studying energy.  In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy."
Albert Szent-Gyorgi (Nobel Laureate in Energy) -
As quoted by David Feinstein in The Promise of Energy Psychology
Therapists and medical professionals have become increasingly  drawn to the ways in which energy fields inside and outside our bodies influence the state of our well-being.
As such, a relatively new field of investigation and experimentation, Energy Psychology, is being pursued by both the scientific and lay communities.  The techniques being explored lean heavily on ancient bodies of knowledge such as acupuncture and acupressure.
The resources below are largely references to a process called the Emotional Freedom Technique, (EFT) which is currently finding favor among both professional and lay communities due to the ease with which it can be learned, and due to its 20+ year history of often dramatic and immediate results.
While I use EFT sparingly, and only when my clients show an interest in it, I encourage everyone to take a moment to consider its potential in their lives.  The resources itemized below are peeled off an unlimited list.  I have picked them out to make it easier for people to introduce themselves to this new mental-health tool, without becoming immediately overwhelmed by it.
A general introduction to the way in which Eastern ideas of energy fields are being incorporated into conventional western modes of healing through a process called Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT.  Demonstrates the method's wide applicability to the interests of mental and physical health.

Provides a glimpse at the beginnings of a world movement - the use of "tapping" to help heal, empower, and organize a group of 500 children - survivors orphaned in Rwanda and living in an isolated, remote and destitute area of the country (no running water, electricity, etc.).
David Feinstein, Donna Eden, and Gary Craig - An easy-to-read and informative introduction to the field of energy psychology generally, and EFT in particular.  (David Feinstein is a  a clinical psychologist who has served on the faculties of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.)
A fascinating "dumbed down" introduction to the quantum mechanics of energy psychology, by an internationally acclaimed cellular biologist.
